About
Growing up in a small town in the heart of the Rocky Mountains of Carbondale and Aspen Colorado, inspired my connection with nature. My paintings represent a playful intermingling of color, shape, line and form. The creative process allows my mind to blissfully create and capture what can be.
Being dyslexic I have had to develop alternative ways of learning and interpreting the world. I received two BA’s in Fine Art and Clinical Psychology in 1996. After working as a childcare teacher, and having my first child, I started a graduate program in Clinical Psychology, receiving my Master’s degree in 2000. I received my license as a Marriage and Family Therapist in 2003, soon after the birth of my second boy. I received my certificate in Expressive Art Therapy and as a Registered Yoga Teacher, incorporating other parts of what I love into my work as a psychotherapist.
For over 20 years I have guided clients to access internal strengths and resources, through the use of art. The creative process allows individuals to heal without having to use words. Sublimation, considered a higher level defense mechanism, “is a process by which negative urges, drives, and behaviors are channeled into more adaptable behaviors”. Creating art has been a vehicle for channeling pain and as a source of healing
